Asia

Asia is the world's largest and most populous continent. Covering 8.6% of the Earth surface (29.9% land area) with 4.1 billion people, 60.3% of the world's population. Asia is defined as part of the landmass of Eurasia with the western portion occupied by Europe lying east of the Suez Canal, east of the Ural Mountains, south of the Caucasus Mountains, the Caspian and Black Seas. It is bound on the east by the Pacific Ocean on the south by the Indian Ocean, and north by the Arctic Ocean.

Maps of various Asian countries I have visited

Cambodia - What has happened in this country in recent years is bone chilling.  While we highly recommend this trip to be included in your vacation plans we do not suggest visiting the Killing Fields or Prison for the faint of heart.

An incredible country that has seen much change in recent years.  However we often forget that China was "civilized" when the rest of the world were climbing out of caves.  China's history is fascinating!

Hong Kong - Also home for a few years and where Joe's love of Asia truly started about 40 years ago.  Hong Kong is similar to New York... it is one of those cities that you know exactly where you are once the plane touches down.  Exciting and constantly on the go!

Sometimes a tough place to understand... Always a challenge to travel around and do business with...

Indonesia - Much of the world has no clue about Indonesia!  The country is huge and one of the most populated in the world.  It has fallen on tough political times and the people are suffering from it.  In some areas religious factions are hurting the country and will not help it's future.  Bali continues to be a great vacation spot with some the friendliest and most interesting people in Asia!

I love traveling to Japan, but bring your credit cards...

Golf shirt central!  You get all the best brands at a fraction of the cost!  Much like Japan, expensive place to visit but well worth the trip.  Our tour to the DMZ was unforgettable and we have a house full of Korean furniture...

Macau - Control was recently returned to China by Portugal.  Just a short ferry ride from Hong Kong and a popular place for Hong Kong people to go for gambling, golf and just a quick getaway!

Malaysia - We used to live here years ago.
We still go here a lot to play golf.  Only a 45 minute drive from our front door to Palm Resort.

A thoroughly enjoyable destination.  If you have any interest in learning more about Asian religions you must visit Nepal!  Oh and there is a little hill top you might want to climb to see the surrounding area... it is called Mount Everest!

Philippines - Home for many years.  We truly enjoyed our time there.  Truly wonderful people!  Unlike many, we were blessed and were able to enjoy an incredible lifestyle. The country has a troubled history but the people amazingly smile through it all!

As you can see by the drive time, Singapore is not too big!  But we like it!

Sometimes I think Taiwan is more "Chinese" than China.  On the other
hand it is very "American" so I'm very confused when I go there...  I keep hoping to experience a sunny day when I go... I've literally never seen the sun while there...

Probably one of our favourite destinations to visit in Asia.  Unique culture, food, people, sightseeing, shopping... Thailand has it all!  It is a must for all travellers to Asia!

This country has been "at war" with someone FOREVER!  Whether external or internal the conflicts have gone on and on.  The good news is that things are peaceful today and it is quickly becoming a popular tourist destination (again).  We suggest you get there before it changes again!
